Multi-Discipline Events, One Regatta

Fri, Aug 14, 2026 3 min read

One Regatta, More Than One Discipline

Some regattas refuse to stay in one discipline. A club invitational might open with a match racing round robin, move on to 2v2 and 3v3 team racing, and settle the event on one combined score. Run on separate systems, that means separate results, separate sheets and a spreadsheet to add it all up at the end. RegattaWeb runs the whole regatta as one event.

One Event, Every Discipline

  • Every discipline scored to its own rulebook. Each part of the program sails one discipline: Appendix C for match racing, Appendix D for team racing.

  • One roster, counted once. A club sailing every part of the program appears once, while each part keeps its own team format, so one club can hold a 2v2 entry and a 3v3 entry.

  • Every tool in one place. Organizers get the tools each discipline needs, together, for the whole event.

One Running Order on the Water

When disciplines race side by side, their races run in one shared order of flights, each discipline on its own boats, so every flight has one race of each. One race number runs through the day, shared by the race committee and the scoreboard, while each discipline keeps its own numbering beside it. One schedule covers the whole regatta, with the same numbers the committee boat posts, and anyone can read it without an account.

One Combined Leaderboard

  • One line per team, however many disciplines it sailed.

  • A total that shows its work, broken down series by series beside the bracket, with any penalties listed on their own lines.

  • Standings as of the last completed flight. Beside the running total sits the score counted only from completed flights, so everyone knows what stood after each one.

  • Ties broken by the book, on a published ladder. Anything it cannot break goes to the Organizing Authority to decide, recorded and shown on every screen.

  • First place reads Leader until the race committee confirms the event, then Champion.

  • Races to a target. When clubs race to a target score, the event shows the race to that score on its Overview, its Standings and in Club TV Mode: each club’s points by format, and how far each has to go.

Follow Along

Spectators can follow one discipline at a time, or watch a whole flight together on the flights board, where a single flight shows its match race and its team races side by side as results arrive.

Multi-discipline events are set up together with our team. If your regatta brings match racing and team racing to the water, email sales@regattaweb.org and talk to us about a custom package.
